Some advice from you guys out there, please?

There is this competition hold by an international music school which will lead you to the next step of becoming a singer....

Me and my friends decided to go for a try, but now I doubt if I should... I can't sing well (seriously). I'm trying to improve myself by some singing tips online, because I cant get a coach or whatever - my parents wont let.

My dream is to become a model/actress/singer since i was 12 years old (i'm 14 goin 15 this year), although I've never exposed my voice in front of anyone except my family. My voice really is out of pitch, stuffed, and i cant go neither higher or lower scales.

My friends said I should just try out although I might not win. But I think I should only try when I have my best.

What is your opinion? Please help me with some ideas/decisions.

oh and, the competition is on the 22nd of February, i must decide quick because my friends are waiting for my final answer (grouping with 3 of my friends if I'm joining)

wish to hear from you, plz and thxSome advice from you guys out there, please?
well, it's not like you'll be singing on your own, you'll be singing with your friends, so you won't be totally exposed, this is a chance for you to prove to yourself that you DO have it in you, and if you mess up it won't matter so much as there are 3 others singing.

Plus the more you practise the better you will get. Pet, i really think you should give it a shot, you've nothing to lose, you can only gain from this experience. And if AFTER you decide you weren't good enough than at least you've experienced it and it will help you decide on WHICH career you would prefer to do, go on, as nike say-just do it!Some advice from you guys out there, please?
go on and try there's no harm in tryin if you try it then you failed you lose nothing but you gain extra confidence to the next coming exposure. and it will make you practice more and conscious of making your voice greater and sound better. congratulations in advance
remember it's just for fun
How would you know unless you try!

Go for it!
haha no way! my competition is Feb 22 also! lol funnnnnayyyyyy, but anyways keyword:WINNING, is not what you want to go there to do. your going there to have fun and to prove to yourself you can do it, your also there to get better by taking there constructive critism (i dunno how to spell that word lol) (crit-tis-siz-um) but anyways, i've been going to competitions for a loonngg time and the thing i learned was if im going there to win It's going to take the fun out of everything, doing what i love is going to be more of a ';job.'; WHO CARES IF YOU MAY NOT BE GOOD lol, the way i look at it is, If Im bad, someone else here is worse then me, like anywhere you go theres going to be someone better than you, but theres always going to be someone worse than you. Now if this is your real passion you will be determined to do it. Here are some tips Some Feed back i got from judges over the years that I learned from and can now share with others.

1. Come into the room CONFIDENT.

-Trick- How to appear confident is comming into the room with your head up high, hands to the side, and smile. Now before you go into the room and your FREAKING OUT, take deep slow breaths. If you also find yourself shaking real hard control it, by not shaking and breathing deeply will send a meassage to your brain (not literally) that your calm.

2. NEVER SAY YOUR SORRY.

-Trick- If you find Oh Crap i said the wronge word in your head the worst thing to do is stop and say ';Im sorry!'; because now your no longer in control, you've skipped more words, and you no longer look professional. Act like YEP I MEANT TO SAY THAT WORD or skip that line or w.e. they know your nervous and they may even still tell you what you know in your evaluation but they would really gain up on you if you stopped and said ';SORRY!!!'; big no no!

3. BE IN CHARACTOR

-trick- I don't know if you know how to act, but it's so much easier to sing when your another person, I don't care what your singing, but you need to be that person who's in love with someone, or is pist off at her boyfriend for cheating on you, or Someone Stole your dog! lol the dog might of been a bad example but that's what i mean you need to be that person, you need to put yourself in that position and really feel for the charactor. A song is all about sending out a meassage, so please put emotion into the song and send out that meassage and make that person really believe that your Happy or Sad, depending on the song your singing.

4. DON'T JUST STAND THER AND SING

-trick- Move around alittle bit, have hand movement, look into the judges eyes (don't freak them out tho) don't let your performance be boring, movement will come naturally if your really believing your charactor, but if it doesn't, sway alittle bit move the way you would if you were ';talking'; to someone, only your really ';singing'; to someone, it's kinda hard to explain by typing but i hope you understand.

-drink lot's of water, honey,honey/tea, lemon juice

-don't eat crackers, anything that is rough

-eat soup or something warm

-get plenty of rest

-rest the voice by not talking so much unless you have to for the remainder of your competition.

THE BIGGEST ADVICE EVER!!

believen yourself ;-D
